Driving Secrets

Today, we will look at some ways in which you can try to beat the system and get out of paying that pesky ticket. Let's face it, we don't like to lose do we? So here is a little advice for you to consider if and when your case ever goes to court.

Be sure that you know your rights, brush up on your law, research and learn as much of the law books before your court date arrives. Try to memorize these rights and keep them fresh in your mind when you get into that court room.

  1. It is your absolute right to have a fast trial, no waiting or reconvening.
  2. You are allowed to ask for and are entitled to a trial held in a court. Normally the only person who can rule or decide your fate is the Judge. In some states you might even be allowed to request that you can have a jury. Some people think that you would not have as much luck with a jury as you would with just having the judge, but everyone has their own opinions.
  3. It is your right to have a lawyer or attorney with you at the proceedings. In traffic court you will most likely have to pay for the lawyer, it would not be free to you unless the charge against you could lead you to jail time.
  4. Do not even think about getting the officer who was in the police car the day of your ticket when you were stopped. The only thing you should think of having are the police records.
  5. If you have any witnesses that you will bring to court, you are able to cross-examine them. Most likely it would be the police officer that issued the ticket or fine to you on the day in question. If the officer doesn't make it to the hearing or trial then there would be no case against you and there would be no conviction.
  6. Remember that you do have the right to remain silent. Try not to forget this, even as you enter the courtroom. Don't let the surroundings make you nervous. Remember that you will never have to testify against yourself and you could refuse if the defense wants you to take the stand for them. This is your best route to go in beating traffic tickets.

Is a lawyer needed to represent you in this?

Absolutely NOT! You can very easily represent yourself...As stated earlier, if you follow these tips before you go into that courtroom you will do absolutely fine and be in a good position to beat a speeding ticket.
